Pongal is a very popular breakfast in south India which is prepared from rice. It is of two types – sakarai pongal and ven pongal. The sakarai pongal is sweet which is made up of milk, jaggery and rice while the ven pongal is spicy.

Khichdi is made up of rice and lentils(dal). It is very tasty and can serve as a sumptuous meal. While Khichdi is a famous breakfast in South India, it is also popular in different forms in many other states of India.
